After growing up in water-filled Seattle, Sophie discovered her true connection to the resource upon moving to the arid climate of Boulder, Colorado. As she has pursued a double major in Environmental Studies and Geography at the University of Colorado, focusing on water policy and hydrology, she has become determined that her future career must revolve around water conservation and management. Naturally, when she learned about the incredible mission of Second Mile Water, she could not help but want to be involved. Through her work at SMW she hopes to help expand permanent access to clean water throughout the globe.

Random Fact

Sophie is a dual-citizen in both the US, and New Zealand. When she was 18 she spent a summer gallivanting around the South Island with her cousins, speed boating, bungy jumping, and getting into all sorts of trouble.

Guilty Pleasure

Sophie loves cashews way too much. Seriously, she will sit down and eat so many that she feels sick. She should probably diversify her diet.

“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse, and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.” – Desmond Tutu
